Polyball batting practice is a great pre-game batting practice method if there is no batting cage available. The polyballs do not travel very far and are easy to pick up between hitters. The best polyballs to use for live pitch batting practice are the regulation baseball or softball size polyballs because they are easier to throw than the mini golf ball size polyball.
Machine pitched Wiffle® or polyball batting practice.
Most of the polyball machines will throw fast balls and curves. The fast ball speed can be manipulated by moving the machine closer or farther from the batter to simulate the correct reaction time as the hitter would see in a game situation. This is much the same as MLB batting practice which is pitched at around 50 ft. instead of 60.5 ft. since it is being thrown by batting practice coach pitchers.
